Eastbridge have recently completed fabricating replacement steel arch spans and strengthening plates for the upgrading of the Tainui bridge in Huntly in the North Island of NZ. The upgrading of this 1940s era 7 span tied arch bridge is being undertaken for Genesis Energy to enable the transiting of new 400 tonne turbines for the Huntly Power Station. The new arches span 43m and are 500mm square box sections fabricated from 20 & 25mm G350 plate. A series of 6 x 80mm diameter hanger bars support the main deck girders along the length of the arches. There is over 800t of steel entailed in this strengthening project.
