What we do

Eastbridge is a New Zealand-based company specialising in the supply of Steel Bridges, Towers, Poles, and Heavy Steel Fabrication.

Steel bridging is our core through our proprietary pre-designed systems or one-off custom bridge fabrication specifically designed for your project.

Propriety bridging systems include the Rapid Deployment Bridge (RDB) and the Eastbridge Truss (back-to-back angle system) marketed under the EASTBRIDGE trademark.

Custom bridge fabrication is undertaken on a project-specific basis with structural forms including Plate girders, Box Girders, Trapezoidal boxes, Network arches, Welded and bolted trusses, and Pedestrian and Cycleway bridges, Pipe and service bridges, Road, Rail, and special temporary bridging.

The project management team has extensive experience and we are able to assist with all parts of a bridging project such as concept planning, optioneering, value engineering, professional detailed design, and full installation if required.

Our resources and capabilities extend to heavy steel fabrication including welded beams, pressure vessels, and heavy structural components for the vertical building market.

Our office and production facilities are located in Napier on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Eastbridge premises are within 2 km of the Port of Napier, which offers services to most international markets. Well-developed road & rail infrastructure link Napier to other main centres of New Zealand and give access to further major port facilities.

History

The Eastbridge Napier site was established in the late 1960s with plate girder and truss bridges the focus.

Eastbridge was the agent for the Callender-Hamilton Bridges, a popular modular and pre-fabricated truss bridging system at the time.

In conjunction with the Ministry of Works, the standard truss designs of that era were refined and developed into the proprietary ‘Eastbridge Truss’, a back-to-back bolted angle system.

Throughout its history and continuing today Eastbridge has provided many bridges into the Pacific Islands.

In the early 1990’s Eastbridge was briefly owned by CSP, a division of Fletcher Building. Since then Eastbridge has been locally owned and operated
During the last decade weathering steel has become widely used and accepted for road and rail bridges. Eastbridge supplied the first weathering steel bridge in NZ, the Mercer to Longswamp offramp.

In recent years as New Zealand’s infrastructure needs have evolved Eastbridge has completed an increasing number of Pedestrian, Cycleway, and Shared User Path bridges, as well as complex and high-end architectural bridges that bring form as well as function.
